Psychosocial Fertility Counseling

For many people, having biological children is a natural part of their life plan.
About one in seven couples in Germany experiences involuntary childlessness.
For most, the realization that having a biological child naturally may not be possible unfolds gradually, after many months of cycle tracking, ovulation tests, timed intercourse, and medical appointments. Single people, same-sex couples, and individuals with reproductive health conditions may also need support to become parents.
Thanks to advances in reproductive medicine, many are eventually able to hold the child they have longed for in their arms. Yet, even the best treatments cannot guarantee success.
For those undergoing fertility treatment, the journey is often a delicate balance between the emotional, physical, and financial demands of the process and the hope of parenthood.
Around 50% of people receiving fertility treatment face emotional challenges.
Fertility treatment can be a long and challenging journey. Pregnancy announcements in the family or among friends, the demands of medical procedures, changes in sexual desire, frustration, time off work, secrecy, or pressure from others – all of these can become sources of stress and emotional strain.
As a trained fertility consultant, I would be happy to support you throughout all phases of your journey to parenthood.
This work includes exploring important decisions, for example: “How far do we want to go?” and “What does parenthood mean to me? What is important to me about life with a child?” It also addresses how to handle external pressures, when to take breaks, and how to recognize your own limits of stress.
I can support you in maintaining your partnership and will encourage you to consider what it would mean for you to have to say goodbye to your desire to have children.
Perhaps you are already in the process of saying goodbye and need grief-sensitive support.
Perhaps you are pregnant with your longed-for child and are now realizing how exhausting the last months or years have been.
Sometimes a single conversation is enough, while other people require counseling over weeks or months. In the initial consultation, we will clarify what kind of support you would like.
